Motic, 1988 gegründet als Hersteller für konventionelle Verbundmikroskope, ist zu einem Betrieb mit 2.000 Mitarbeitern angewachsen. Vertriebsbüros sind in Kanada, Deutschland, Hongkong und den USA angesiedelt. Das Hauptwerk steht in Xiam in China. Hier arbeiten über 100 Ingenieure und Techniker an der Mikroskopentwicklung.
Seit Ende der 90er begann Motic kostengünstige, digitale Mikroskopielösungen zu entwickeln. Motic ist heutzutage eine führende Marke für digitale Mikroskopie.
